SDS 2016 Frequently Asked Questions
1) My abstract has been accepted, must I submit a paper for review? is there a paper template?
Authors of the accepted abstracts are invited to submit a short-length Paper using the template available at the symposium website (http://sdsymposium2016granada.weebly.com/paper-submission.html) which already defines the components of your paper [title, abstract, text, heads, images, figures, etc.] in its style sheet. It will be reviewed by the Scientific Committee in a blind peer review process.
2) What is the difference between a paper and an extended abstract? If our extended abstract is accepted, would we still have to send a longer article later, or that should be the definitive one?
There is no difference between the two of them, extended abstract and paper are the same. We call it sometimes ‘extended abstract’ to indicate that is a short-length Paper, since only it reflects the written communication of the symposium. Following the symposium, there will be a call for Full Papers with a longer length (up to 6000 words), to be published as a chapter of the SDS 2016 Granada Monograph which will include the most relevant works.will include the most relevant works.
3) Once the abstract is accepted, is it assumed that we would present our work during the symposium? In that case, should it be a powerpoint presentation of 10 minutes or a poster?
Once the abstract is accepted it is possible to present the extended abstract/short-length paper, which will be reviewed to ensure the quality of research is maintained. This paper can be accepted, either directly or revised with minor or major modifications. After preparing the final version of Paper, you will be asked to send the PowerPoint Presentation in order to prepare the conference schedule. If anyone of the authors prefers not to present an oral communication it is possible to prepare a poster which will be presented by the Scientific Committee.
4) Although we are two authors of the work, is it accepted that only one of us assists to the symposium?
Yes. If there are two or more authors, the paper can be presented at the symposium only by one of them, who will receive both, Certificate of Attendance and Certificate of Oral Presentation). At least one of the authors should be formally registered for the symposium in order for the work to be included, however we encourage to register and participate to all of the authors of each paper.
5) Are you going to make a publication with all the papers?
Only the abstracts will be published in the Symposium Proceedings. Following the symposium, there will be a Call for Full Papers with a longer length (up to 6000 words), to be published as a chapter of the SDS 2016 Granada Monograph which will include the most relevant works.
